Dak Lak Agriculture Earns Over 22 Trillion VND in 2023

In 2023, Dak Lak’s agriculture sector generated more than 22 trillion VND (about 900 million USD), a 13% increase compared with the previous year.

Specifically, the province’s combined output of crops, forestry and aquaculture reached roughly 22.4 trillion VND, accounting for 37.8% of the province’s total gross product.

Crop farming contributed the largest share—over 17.5 trillion VND—followed by livestock at more than 2.8 trillion VND, and aquaculture at around 1.4 trillion VND. Even export timber products, despite a sharp drop, still brought in over 700 billion VND.

According to Nguyen Hoai Duong, Director of Dak Lak’s Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the province’s agricultural sector enjoyed an unexpectedly successful year, growing at nearly one-and-a-half times the national average.

Duong added that 2023 marked a strong recovery, with total agricultural production value rising 13% from 2022. All key areas recorded notable gains, especially crop cultivation, where restructuring programs focused on strategic crops such as coffee, pepper, rice and particularly durian—whose economic value increased significantly.
