A Meaningful Product Made by Rubber Workers for Rubber Workers

“Workers deserve to use the very products they create.” This meaningful principle, upheld by the leadership of the Vietnam Rubber Group (VRG), reflects their care for employees while simultaneously turning workers into the most authentic brand ambassadors for VRG’s industrial products.

Empowering Workers to Use Their Own Creations

In addition to producing rubber-based industrial goods such as sports balls, medical gloves, rubber threads, and mattresses, VRG has in recent years expanded deeper into rubber industrial product manufacturing to reduce the export of raw materials and serve domestic industries.

Recognizing that many of VRG’s employees—especially field workers on rubber plantations—use motorbikes dailyfor commuting and transporting latex, the Group launched the VRG tire brand in 2017 after extensive research and collaboration.

The initial product line focused on truck tires, meeting both Japanese JIS D4230 and Vietnamese TCVN 7533:2005quality standards. Building on early success, by 2019, VRG introduced 80,000 motorcycle tires across 15 models, including tubeless and tube-type variants, catering to diverse consumer needs.

The launch of VRG tires marked a new milestone in VRG’s industrial strategy — turning rubber from its own plantations into high-value end products while promoting the slogan “Vietnamese workers use Vietnamese goods.”

A Special Gift of Appreciation for Rubber Workers

Understanding the importance of these products to employees’ daily lives, the Vietnam Rubber Industry Trade Union (CSVN) initiated a program to gift VRG tires to outstanding workers as part of the Workers’ Month campaign.

In 2020, the Trade Union allocated VND 983 million to purchase and distribute VRG tires to employees, with an additional 200 tires donated to the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin).

This initiative aligns with the national “Vietnamese People Prioritize Vietnamese Goods” campaign and reinforces employee welfare programs. It allows workers — the very people who harvest latex and provide the raw material — to experience the value of their labor firsthand.

“No one can promote a product better than the people who make it,”
said Mr. Phan Manh Hung, Chairman of the Vietnam Rubber Industry Trade Union.
“Workers take pride in using the products of their own industry. Their satisfaction and word-of-mouth are the best advertisement for VRG.”

Promoting Brand Pride Across the Rubber Sector

Trade unions across VRG subsidiaries are encouraged to allocate budget savings to continue gifting VRG tires to workers. Ten units in the Southeast region each spent VND 50 million on tire giveaways during Workers’ Month 2020.

For instance, Dong Nai Rubber Corporation rewarded workers exceeding monthly latex output by over 10% with VRG tires — recognizing both productivity and commitment to technical standards.

Nguyen Hoa, a rubber worker at Thai Hiep Thanh Plantation, shared:
“Receiving a VRG tire made by our own hands is a great honor. It’s not just a reward — it’s pride in our craftsmanship. I hope this meaningful program continues, motivating us to work harder and overcome challenges together.”

Sustainable Pride and Product Promotion

By turning laborers into product users and advocates, VRG is strengthening brand loyalty and national pride. The Group also plans to expand similar programs — such as gifting Geru Star sports balls to workers for recreation — reinforcing both employee well-being and domestic brand recognition.

The VRG tire is more than a product — it symbolizes unity, craftsmanship, and pride in Vietnam’s rubber industry.
