Admiring Coffee Blossoms During Honeybee Season

At this time of year, the vast coffee hills of Đắk Lắk are transformed into pure “white snowfields” as coffee trees burst into bloom.

Locals and visitors alike are captivated by the beauty and fragrance of these iconic blossoms, eagerly checking in and capturing every magical moment.

Đắk Lắk currently has about 210,000 hectares of coffee. Depending on microclimates and irrigation schedules, the coffee flowers bloom from after the Lunar New Year until mid-March, creating striking expanses of white that stand out against every other crop.

The coffee blossom season is when Đắk Lắk is at its most enchanting, stirring hearts with its fragrant spectacle.

Coffee flowers are alluring even in bud, shifting from pale green to a pristine, pearl-like white. This is the coffee plant’s delicate “split-beak” stage, when the buds are just about to open.

Farmers must ensure sufficient watering so the flowers can fully bloom. Only with enough water can the coffee trees flower profusely, allowing successful pollination and fruit set. Their sweet fragrance drifts across the hills, heralding a season of rich, honeyed coffee blossom nectar.

From afar or up close, the coffee flowers are breathtaking from every angle.

Young women from nearby villages and travelers from afar cannot resist these “snow-covered” coffee groves. Everyone delights in the experience, capturing radiant, dreamlike snapshots.

Starting March 10, Đắk Lắk will celebrate its coffee festivals. Yet even now, the white, fragrant coffee blossoms are sending their message of invitation far and wide.
