Another Vietnamese Company Licensed to Export Pet Food to Taiwan

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Agency (APHIA) of Taiwan has officially notified the Vietnam Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei of its decision to approve one more Vietnamese company to export pet food to Taiwan.

VIENOVO Vietnam Granted Export License

According to the announcement, VIENOVO Vietnam Joint Stock Company (Address: No. 2, Main Road, Tra Noc 1 Industrial Zone, Thoi An Dong Ward, Can Tho City, Vietnam) has successfully met Taiwan’s “Import Quarantine Conditions for Dog and Cat Food”.

Effective from July 11, 2025, pet food products containing animal-derived ingredients from cattle, sheep, and poultryproduced by VIENOVO Vietnam are officially eligible for export to Taiwan, provided they comply with APHIA’s quarantine standards.

Taiwan’s Growing Pet Food Market

Taiwan’s pet food market has been expanding rapidly — not only driven by general consumer demand but also as a reflection of deeper socio-demographic changes.
One of the key underlying factors is the aging population. Taiwan is transitioning into a super-aged society, with over 20% of its citizens aged 65 and above. Coupled with a record-low birth rate, pets are increasingly seen as emotional companions, often treated as genuine family members.

In Taiwanese culture, pets are affectionately referred to as “hairy children”, symbolizing the deep emotional bonds between owners and their animals. Dogs and cats are no longer viewed as mere pets but rather as companions, confidants, and emotional anchors for both the elderly living alone and young professionals leading independent lives.

The “Pet Humanization” Trend

This transformation has fueled a powerful consumer trend known as “pet humanization.”
Pet owners are willing to spend generously on high-quality food, nutritional supplements, treats, and even luxury experiences such as pet birthday parties, personal chefs, and spa treatments. Pet care has evolved into a lifestyle choice, where emotional value, quality, and brand trust are key drivers of consumption.

Opportunities for Vietnamese Exporters

Given this context, the pet food industry in Taiwan is no longer merely about animal nutrition — it represents a modern lifestyle sector emphasizing wellness, care, and companionship.
For Vietnamese companies, this presents a promising export opportunity. By focusing on premium quality, safety standards, and brand reputation, Vietnamese manufacturers can successfully position themselves within Taiwan’s rapidly growing and increasingly sophisticated pet food market.

With the recent approval of VIENOVO Vietnam, there are now two Vietnamese pet food factories authorized to export to Taiwan, marking another milestone in Vietnam’s expanding footprint in the high-value pet care sector.
