
Favorable weather conditions in 2025 are expected to ensure a high flowering rate and excellent fruit quality for Bac Giang lychee, one of Vietnam’s most iconic agricultural exports. The province forecasts an abundant harvest with output surpassing 150,000 tons, reaffirming its leading position in Vietnam’s fruit export sector.
Strong Outlook for the 2025 Lychee Season

According to Bac Giang’s Department of Agriculture and Environment, the province maintains a stable lychee cultivation area of 29,700 hectares in 2025.

Early lychee: 8,000 ha (27%), with expected output of 60,000 tons.

Main-season lychee: 21,700 ha (73%), producing around 90,000 tons.
Lychee grown under VietGAP standards accounts for 16,000 ha, yielding over 115,000 tons, while GlobalGAP-certified orchards cover 203 ha with 2,000 tons expected. Additionally, organic lychee production continues to expand, with about 10 ha concentrated in Luc Ngan district.
The early-harvest season is expected to begin after May 20, 2025.
Enhancing Production and Export Readiness
Since late 2024, the Department of Agriculture and Environment has implemented Plan No. 88/KH-SNN focusing on lychee production and export coordination.
A 10-member technical task force was established to guide farmers, monitor weather developments, and ensure crop management meets export standards.
The department also issued updated technical manuals, approved pesticide lists, and continues to support GlobalGAP certification for export zones.
Currently, Bac Giang maintains 241 lychee planting area codes covering 17,450 ha for export:

China: 127 codes, 16,196 ha, 110,000 tons

United States: 21 codes, 250 ha, 2,500 tons

Australia: 29 codes, 386 ha, 3,000 tons
Additionally, Bac Giang has obtained three new planting codes for lychee exports to the U.S., covering 30 ha in Phuc Hoa commune, Tan Yen district, effective from March 20, 2025.
Boosting Trade Promotion and Digital Marketing
The province has been actively promoting lychee exports through cooperation with the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Vietnamese embassies, and trade counselors abroad, connecting foreign distributors and supply chains to expand international reach.
Bac Giang is also enhancing logistics partnerships with major service providers like Vietnam Post and Viettel Post, and diversifying sales channels through e-commerce platforms such as Voso, Postmart, Lazada, Tiki, Shopee, Alibaba, and Amazon.
The province is further encouraging digital transformation in agriculture, including:

Establishing virtual booths and QR code traceability for lychee and local specialties at online trade fairs.

Collaborating with the E-Commerce and Digital Economy Agency (Ministry of Industry and Trade) to boost online sales through the “Vietnam Online Pavilion” and social media platforms like Facebook, Zalo, TikTok, and livestream marketing.
Expanding to European Markets
Bac Giang continues to partner with Mova Plus Company to expand lychee exports to European markets.
Previously, the province successfully exported early-harvest U Hong lychee to Europe, marking a milestone in the region’s fruit export diversification strategy.
Resilience and High Quality Despite Challenges
Although unfavorable weather in 2024 significantly impacted production, Bac Giang lychee maintained its premium quality, achieving record-high selling prices and strong reputation in both domestic and international markets.
The province remains committed to improving quality control, supply chain management, and international certification, ensuring Bac Giang lychee continues to represent Vietnamese agricultural excellence on the global stage.
