As part of its long-term strategy to expand lychee exports to Europe and other potential markets, Mova Plus Companyproposed in late 2024 that the Bac Giang People’s Committee direct and support the cultivation and export of U Hong early lychees in Phuc Hoa commune and Luc Ngan district during the 2025 season.
The company has dispatched technical staff to work with growers, packing facilities, and processing units to prepare for the export of around 500 tons of early-harvested U Hong lychees to the EU market this year.
To strengthen market presence, Mova Plus plans to launch trade promotion activities in Europe, engaging with the Vietnamese embassies, trade counselors, and trade offices in Germany, France, Belgium, and the Czech Republic, as well as distributors and retail systems across Europe.
Government and Business Collaboration
During a meeting on March 6, 2025, between Bac Giang provincial leaders and Mova Plus executives, Mr. Tran Trong Nguyen, Chairman of Mova Plus, highlighted that the company has studied Bac Giang lychee for many years. He noted that the province’s lychees are high-quality, visually appealing, and ideal for export.
Mr. Nguyen requested continued support from the Bac Giang People’s Committee, the Departments of Industry and Trade, and Agriculture and Environment in guiding farmers linked with Mova Plus to comply with quality and sustainability standards. He also proposed joint efforts in promoting Bac Giang lychee across Europe (Germany, France, Belgium) and in Vietnam’s major tourist destinations.
In response, Mr. Pham Van Thinh, Vice Chairman of the Bac Giang People’s Committee, reaffirmed that lychee remains the province’s flagship crop, generating significant income for local farmers. He emphasized that the provincial government will continue to facilitate trade, ensure contract compliance, and support lychee quality assurancethroughout the production chain.
Ensuring Quality and Export Readiness
Bac Giang’s leadership underscored that quality remains the core value of its lychee exports. The Department of Agriculture and Environment was instructed to collaborate closely with Mova Plus and the Tan Yen District People’s Committee to guide farmers on meeting export standards and technical requirements.
Mova Plus’s European partners will also allocate resources and develop a detailed production plan to meet the committed export volume.
The Department of Industry and Trade will coordinate with related agencies to prepare the 2025 Trade Promotion Plan, focusing on promoting Bac Giang lychee in domestic tourist hubs such as Nha Trang and Phu Quoc, while also working with Vietnam’s embassies and trade offices abroad to expand export opportunities and reduce logistics costs.
Long-Term Development Orientation
Looking ahead, provincial authorities aim to enhance technological innovation in lychee farming — particularly in off-season lychee production — to increase product value and stabilize export volumes year-round.
