Cambodia’s agricultural exports surged to over USD 2.87 billion in the first six months of 2025, led by rice, paddy, and diversified farm products — reflecting strong global demand and production growth.
Overview
According to a report released by the General Directorate of Agriculture (GDA) under the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF), Cambodia earned more than USD 2.87 billion from agricultural exports during the first two quarters of 2025.
In total, the country exported over 7.8 million tons of agricultural products — up 27.66% compared with the same period in 2024. This includes 4.2 million tons of non-rice agricultural commodities, 3.1 million tons of paddy, and nearly 380,000 tons of milled rice.
Export Breakdown
-
Non-rice agricultural products: USD 1.926 billion
-
Paddy rice: USD 638 million
-
Milled rice: USD 307 million
These figures show that non-rice exports accounted for nearly two-thirds of total agricultural export value, emphasizing Cambodia’s ongoing diversification efforts into high-value crops beyond rice.
Agricultural Performance and Outlook
Cambodia continues to strengthen its agricultural productivity through modernization, investment in irrigation systems, and expansion of export markets across Asia, the EU, and the Middle East.
The growth in the first half of 2025 reflects rising foreign demand for fruits, cassava, cashew nuts, and bananas, alongside Cambodia’s continued leadership in premium fragrant rice exports.
Experts project that total agricultural exports for 2025 could exceed USD 5 billion, if current trade momentum and favorable weather conditions persist in the latter half of the year.
