According to the General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia (GDCE), the country earned USD 385 million from exports of rubber and rubber-related products in the first seven months of 2023, marking a remarkable 43% increase compared to USD 269 million during the same period last year.
In July 2023 alone, Cambodia exported USD 61 million worth of rubber, up 48.1% from USD 41 million in July 2022, though slightly lower than USD 63.76 million in June 2023.
Consistent Growth Amid Overall Export Decline
Trade data indicate that Cambodia’s rubber export growth momentum began in the second half of 2022 and has continued strongly through January–July 2023. The surge in rubber exports is particularly noteworthy as Cambodia’s total export value declined by 1.8% during the same period, largely due to reduced shipments in the garment, footwear, and travel goods (GFT) sectors.
In 2022, Cambodia earned USD 541.66 million from rubber and rubber product exports, representing a 28.3% year-on-year increase.
Key Export Markets
Cambodia’s primary rubber export destinations include China, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, India, and the European Union. These markets remain essential for sustaining the country’s rubber sector, which continues to demonstrate resilience amid global trade challenges and shifting demand trends.
