Cambodia’s Trade Turnover Reaches Nearly USD 9.5 Billion in the First Two Months of 2025

According to the General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia (GDCE), the country’s total trade turnover with global partners in the first two months of 2025 reached USD 9.447 billion, an increase of 16.3%compared to the same period in 2024.

Of this total:

  • Exports reached USD 4.460 billion, up 11.9%,

  • Imports reached USD 4.987 billion, up 20.6% year-on-year.


China Remains Cambodia’s Largest Trading Partner

China continued to be Cambodia’s largest trading partner, with bilateral trade reaching USD 2.662 billion, up 21.1% year-on-year.

The United States ranked second with USD 1.675 billion, marking a 25.7% increase; followed by Vietnam with USD 1.36 billion, down 3.8%; and Thailand with USD 747 million, slightly down 0.4%.


Cambodia Lifts Ban on Frozen Meat and Offal Imports

In a notable policy shift, Cambodia has officially lifted the temporary ban on imports of frozen offal and cut meat.

The GDCE announced that the import suspension, which had been in effect for over a year, expired on March 12, 2025.
As a result, from March 13, 2025, imports of frozen pork offal and related products are once again permitted under the relevant import control regulations and restricted goods list.

Previously, on January 12, 2024, Cambodia had imposed a temporary ban on the import of frozen meat and animal organs in response to food safety and supply chain concerns.


Cambodia Strengthens Rice Market Diversification Strategy

On March 13, 2025, the Ministry of Commerce of Cambodia held a meeting to discuss strategies for diversifying Cambodia’s rice export markets in the coming years.

The meeting was chaired by H.E. Ok Boung, Secretary of State, and attended by senior officials, including directors-general, provincial department heads, and other key stakeholders from various government agencies.

Rice market diversification remains a strategic priority for the Ministry, aimed at boosting export volumes and enhancing competitiveness for Cambodian rice in international markets.
