Dak Lak Lychee Exported to Japan, China, and Cambodia

Early Ripening Lychee Season Brings Double Joy to Farmers

Farmers in Dak Lak Province are enjoying a prosperous lychee season with both high yields and good prices. Their joy is even greater as the province’s lychees are now being exported to Japan, China, and Cambodia.

Mrs. Vu Thi Nan, a farmer in Ea Sar Commune, Ea Kar District, shared her excitement:

“This year, our lychee crop has been both abundant and profitable. My family owns 4.4 hectares of lychee with an estimated yield of 25–30 tons. We’ve sold our fruit early in the season for 55,000 VND per kilogram.”

The early-ripening lychees have turned the fields of Ea Sar bright red — a symbol of a bountiful harvest.

Strong Output and Rising Export Volume

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Binh, Director of Thanh Binh Agricultural Service Cooperative, the cooperative has 16 members cultivating more than 100 hectares, and collaborates with farmers managing nearly 2,000 additional hectares inside and outside the province.

Favorable weather conditions this year have resulted in strong plant growth and high fruit-setting rates, with an average yield of 10 tons per hectare.

“Since the start of the season, the cooperative has exported 10 containers (about 120–130 tons) of lychee to China,” Mr. Binh said.

With purchase prices ranging between 50,000 – 60,000 VND per kilogram, after production costs, farmers can earn approximately 300 million VND (around USD 12,000) per hectare in profit.

Expanding Cultivation and Standards

According to Mr. Ha Trung Tuong, Vice Chairman of Ea Sar Commune People’s Committee, the commune is one of Ea Kar District’s key early-ripening lychee areas.

This year, Ea Sar has 400 hectares of lychee, of which 320 hectares are in harvest, with an estimated output of 5,000 tons.

Local authorities have promoted VietGAP-certified production models and standardized farming techniques to improve fruit quality and ensure food safety. Farmers are encouraged to harvest when the fruit reaches 75–85% ripeness for optimal appearance and flavor.

Export Markets and Provincial Scale

Dak Lak lychee has now successfully reached Japan, China, and Cambodia, marking an important milestone for the province’s fruit exports.

According to Mr. Y Non Mlo, Deputy Head of the Ea Kar District Agriculture and Environment Office, the district currently has 1,095 hectares of lychee, including 700 hectares in harvest.

Early-season prices range from 55,000 to 62,000 VND/kg, significantly higher than last year’s 40,000–45,000 VND/kg.

In 2024, Dak Lak’s main markets were southern Vietnamese provinces, but in 2025, exports to Japan, China, and Cambodia have expanded the fruit’s global reach.

Across the entire Dak Lak Province, there are 3,264 hectares of lychee, of which 2,046 hectares are in harvest, yielding approximately 21,180 tons (over 10 tons per hectare on average).
Major growing areas include Ea Kar, Krong Nang, Krong Pac, and M’Drak Districts.

Conclusion

The successful export of Dak Lak lychee to Japan, China, and Cambodia not only enhances the province’s agricultural reputation but also affirms Vietnam’s growing role in the premium fruit export market.
With improved quality control, VietGAP-certified production, and rising demand from international partners, Dak Lak’s lychee industry is poised for sustainable growth in t
