Direct Business Networking Event Strengthens Vietnam–Cambodia Trade Relations

On the afternoon of April 3, 2024, in Phnom Penh, the Department of Foreign Market Development (Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam), the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (CCC), and the Vietnam Trade Office in Cambodia jointly organized a direct business networking (B2B) event to connect Vietnamese and Cambodian enterprises.

The event aimed to bring together manufacturers, exporters, and importers from both countries to explore new opportunities for trade and investment cooperation.

Strong Participation from Both Sides

The meeting drew the participation of numerous Vietnamese companies as well as member businesses of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Nguon Meng Tech, Secretary-General and Head of the Department of International Cooperation of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce, expressed his delight at the growing interest of Vietnamese businesses in investment and trade with Cambodia. He reaffirmed CCC’s readiness to cooperate closely with Vietnamese authorities and trade promotion agencies to organize future events that further strengthen bilateral economic and commercial ties.

Commitment to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

Mr. Nguon Meng Tech praised the initiative of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam, the Department of Foreign Market Development, and the Vietnam Trade Office in Cambodia, recognizing their efforts in organizing a multi-sector business delegation. He emphasized that such activities help deepen the cooperation between enterprises of both nations and contribute to achieving future bilateral trade growth targets.

In response, Ms. Lê Thị Mai Anh, Head of the Vietnamese delegation, expressed sincere gratitude to the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce’s leadership and staff for their strong support. She emphasized the importance of continued collaboration between Cambodian and Vietnamese trade bodies to help enterprises promote products, showcase capabilities, and identify business opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation.

Celebrating Khmer New Year and Future Prospects

On the occasion of the upcoming Khmer Traditional New Year, the Vietnam Trade Office in Cambodia extended warm greetings to the CCC leadership and participating Cambodian enterprises, wishing them good health, success, prosperity, and a thriving business year ahead.

Over the past two decades, Vietnam–Cambodia trade relations have witnessed remarkable growth:

  • 2004: approximately USD 300 million

  • 2010: USD 1.8 billion

  • 2014: nearly USD 3.5 billion

  • 2019: surpassed USD 5 billion

  • 2021: reached USD 10 billion

  • 2024: achieved USD 10.54 billion

Despite global and regional economic fluctuations, bilateral trade between Vietnam and Cambodia has maintained a strong upward trend, reflecting the longstanding friendship and cooperation between the two nations.

Looking ahead, both sides are determined to realize the goal of USD 20 billion in bilateral trade through enhanced cooperation, investment, and partnership initiatives in the coming years.
