On December 27, 2024, the European Union published the Council Regulation (EU) 2024/3211 of December 16, 2024, amending Regulation (EU) 2021/2278 concerning the suspension of the Common Customs Tariff (CCT)referred to in Article 56(2)(c) of Regulation (EU) No. 952/2013 for certain agricultural and industrial products.
Key Details of the Regulation
Under Article 56(2)(c) of Regulation (EU) No. 952/2013, the Common Customs Tariff (CCT) duties on specific goods listed in the annex to Regulation (EU) 2021/2278 have been suspended.
This measure aims to ensure an adequate supply of certain agricultural and industrial products that are not produced within the European Union.
Accordingly, the listed goods may be imported into the EU at reduced or zero tariff rates, without any quantitative restrictions.
New Amendment and Implementation
The newly issued Regulation (EU) 2024/3211 provides an updated annex that includes a temporary list of duty-free items, along with the scheduled review dates to assess whether the tariff suspensions should be extended further.
The regulation will enter into force on January 1, 2025.
