Japan Emerges as a Promising Market for Businesses in Tay Ninh Province

1. Expanding Opportunities for Tay Ninh Enterprises

“Among the countries offering substantial potential for Tay Ninh enterprises to expand their markets, Japan plays a particularly important role,” remarked several delegates at the 2025 Tay Ninh Import-Export Supply Chain and E-Commerce Connection Conference, held at the Tay Ninh Provincial People’s Committee headquarters on September 6, 2025.

In its third edition, the conference welcomed over 600 delegates, including representatives from 27 Vietnamese Trade Offices abroad and nearly 150 foreign companies from 25 territories worldwide.
The Japanese business delegation, led by Mr. Ta Duc Minh – Vietnam’s Trade Counselor in Japan – and Ms. Tong Kim Giao, Chairwoman of the Vietnamese Business Association in Japan (VJBA), participated actively in the event.

During the conference, Ms. Giao, representing VJBA, signed an MOU with the Tay Ninh Business Association, paving the way for new cooperation opportunities between enterprises in Tay Ninh and Japan.

2. Tay Ninh: A Strategic Growth Hub

In his welcome speech, Mr. Nguyen Van Quyet, Secretary of Tay Ninh Provincial Party Committee, emphasized that since the province’s merger, Tay Ninh has had tremendous potential in terms of space, resources, and growth momentum. The province is oriented to become a new growth pole, strengthening links between the Southeast and Southwest regions, and serving as a gateway connecting the Vietnam–Cambodia economic corridor and the broader ASEAN region.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Ms. Phan Thi Thang encouraged Tay Ninh to enhance product quality and adopt international standards, particularly in its key export sectors. She also urged the province to modernize infrastructure and logistics, promote digital transformation, and expand cross-border e-commerce, in partnership with both the public and private sectors.

3. Japan – A High-Potential Market for Tay Ninh’s Products

Speaking at the event, Mr. Ta Duc Minh, Vietnam’s Trade Counselor in Japan, highlighted that Japan is the world’s third-largest economy with a population of about 124 million and very high living and quality standards.
In 2024, Vietnam–Japan bilateral trade reached nearly USD 50 billion, with agricultural and processed food productsamong the most important categories. Japan is also the fourth-largest e-commerce market globally, valued at approximately USD 165 billion in 2024, and continues to expand thanks to strong online consumption habits.

He suggested Tay Ninh enterprises should invest in meeting global standards such as HACCP, ISO, and GlobalGAPto gain a competitive advantage. Products should also emphasize origin and geographical indications — for example, Tay Ninh fruits and peppers — to strengthen brand identity.

Furthermore, Tay Ninh businesses are encouraged to collaborate with Japanese importers, logistics companies, and e-commerce platforms like Amazon Japan and Rakuten, helping deliver products directly to consumers and reduce reliance on traditional distribution channels.
He also invited Tay Ninh enterprises to participate in leading trade fairs in Japan such as Foodex Japan and Japan Seafood Show for greater exposure.

4. Tay Ninh’s Economic Strengths and Investment Environment

With proactive leadership and continuous reform, Tay Ninh’s investment environment has improved significantly, especially after its administrative unification.
The province’s GRDP in 2025 is estimated at over VND 352 trillion, representing 9.3% growth, placing Tay Ninh among the top 10 provinces with the largest economic scale in Vietnam.
