
Thailand remains Vietnam’s largest export market within ASEAN. According to data from Vietnam Customs, Vietnam’s export turnover to Thailand reached USD 7.1 billion in the first 11 months of 2024, up 7.8% year-on-year.
Machinery and Equipment Lead Export Categories
The export group “Machinery, equipment, tools, and spare parts” topped Vietnam’s export list to Thailand, with a turnover of USD 963.86 million, up 2.53%, accounting for 13.47% of total exports.
Following were:

Phones and components – USD 760.23 million, down 12.96%, accounting for 10.63%;

Computers, electronic products, and components – USD 737.67 million, up 33.49%, accounting for 10.31% of total export value.
Notable Growth in Key Export Sectors
Compared to the same period in 2023, several Vietnamese export categories to Thailand surpassed USD 100 million in turnover, showing remarkable growth.

Chemical products increased 154.30% to USD 365.63 million.

Plastic products rose 123.27% to USD 204.50 million.
In the agricultural sector, Vietnamese fruits and vegetables, along with coffee, became more popular among Thai consumers. These products achieved significant export growth, with increases of 79.32% and 47.6%, respectively.
Declines in Some Industrial Exports
Conversely, a few export categories recorded a decline in turnover:

Iron and steel fell 44.32%, reaching USD 138.43 million.

Transport vehicles and spare parts decreased 19.85%, to USD 536.02 million.
Despite these drops, overall trade performance between Vietnam and Thailand continues to show a positive growth trajectory, reflecting the diversification and resilience of Vietnam’s export structure to ASEAN markets.
