After many years of research, selection and successful field trials, scientists at the Western Highlands Agro-Forestry Science and Technology Institute have introduced and recommended five high-yield clonal Robusta (Coffea canephora) lines for farmers and local authorities—especially in the Central Highlands—thanks to their strong productivity, good bean quality, and high resistance to coffee leaf rust.
1. Clone TR4 (also known as Ng 13/8)
Table of Contents

-
Yield: about 7.3 tons of green coffee/ha.
-
Ripe fruit orange-red, inverted egg shape. About 777 cherries/kg; fresh-to-green ratio 4.1; 100-bean weight 17.1 g with about 70.9 % grade-1 beans.

Ripe fruit dark red, round shape. About 658 cherries/kg; fresh-to-green ratio 4.4; 100-bean weight 20.6 g with about 90.5 % grade-1 beans.
-
Strong resistance to leaf rust.
3. Clone TR6 (A4 1/20)

-
Very high rust resistance.
4. Clone TR7 (N. 7/12)
-
Selected in Thang Loi, Dak Lak, 1995.
-
Vigorous growth, many branches, slightly drooping laterals. Lance-shaped medium leaves; bright green when young, dark green when mature.
-
Yield: 4.5 tons/ha.

High resistance to leaf rust.
5. Clone TR8 (Ng 14/8)
-
Selected in Hoa Thuan, Dak Lak, 1995.
-
Vigorous, many branches. Lance-shaped medium leaves; bright light green when young, deep green at maturity.
-
Yield: 4.2 tons/ha.
-

Caffeine: 1.57 g per 100 g dry matter.
-
Strong rust resistance.
These five clonal Robusta lines combine high productivity, export-grade bean quality, and strong leaf-rust resistance, making them excellent candidates for large-scale cultivation and long-term sustainable coffee production in Vietnam’s Central Highlands.
