To continue fostering trade and business connections, the Vietnam Organic Agriculture Association (VOAA) will host a business networking event on March 27, 2025, in Hanoi to discuss opportunities for exporting Vietnamese organic products to the Chinese market—currently the third-largest organic consumer market in the world.
Vietnam’s Competitive Advantages
Vietnam holds numerous competitive advantages in organic product exports to China:
-
A well-developed logistics system, which facilitates exports, significantly reducing transportation costs and delivery time;
-
China’s open-door policy for many high-quality Vietnamese agricultural products;
-
The availability of unique Vietnamese organic goods—such as tropical fruits, tea, cashew nuts, rice, and coffee—which are increasingly popular among Chinese consumers.
With a population exceeding 1.4 billion and a rapidly growing middle class, Chinese consumers are showing greater concern for food safety and organic products. As a result, the demand for imported organic foods has risen sharply.
This trend is further driven by the growth of e-commerce channels and premium supermarket chains, where consumers are shifting toward imported organic products amid domestic food safety concerns.
VOAA’s Recent International Trade Promotion Activities
As part of its international trade promotion strategy, VOAA recently led two delegations of Vietnamese enterprises to major global organic trade fairs:
-
Biofach 2025 (Nuremberg, Germany) – February 11–14, 2025
-
Natural Products Expo West 2025 (Anaheim, USA) – March 4–7, 2025
Both are leading international fairs that shape global organic consumption trends.
The Vietnamese delegation of nine companies, led by VOAA, achieved remarkable results:
-
At Biofach 2025, over USD 4 million in contracts were signed during the event, opening new opportunities for collaboration and market expansion.
Despite global economic challenges, Germany’s organic product consumption grew by 5% in 2024, indicating Europe remains a promising market for Vietnamese exporters. -
At Natural Products Expo West 2025, Vietnamese companies signed nearly USD 2 million worth of contracts, marking a successful debut for Vietnam’s organic and natural businesses in the U.S. market.
Market feedback from both events highlighted the world’s shift toward organic beverages, plant-based products, organic functional foods, and especially ready-to-eat and ready-to-cook organic meals.
This global evolution presents new opportunities for Vietnamese organic agriculture, but also challenges—requiring increased investment in technology, innovation, and scientific advancement in organic production.
Upcoming Discussion on the Chinese Organic Market
On March 27, 2025, in Hanoi, VOAA and its members will gather to explore the Chinese organic market, discuss cooperation strategies, and plan participation in the upcoming Organic Festa Asia 2025, to be held in Shanghai, China, in September 2025.
Co-organized by IFOAM Asia and international partners, Organic Festa Asia is expected to become Asia’s leading event for organic trends, trade, and innovation.
The event will bring together businesses, experts, and buyers across Asia, featuring exhibitions, B2B networking sessions, and trend updates—serving as a strategic platform for expanding partnerships and strengthening the presence of Vietnamese organic brands in the regional market.
