Tan Thanh Border Gate: Key Hub for Fruit Exports
At the Tan Thanh–Po Chai specialized cargo route (landmark 1088/2–1089), about 300–400 vehicles are cleared each day. The main export products include dragon fruit, durian, watermelon, and jackfruit—key Vietnamese fruits bound for the Chinese market.
According to Tan Thanh Customs, from early January to mid-February 2025, the unit has processed over 10,000 customs declarations with a total trade value exceeding USD 118 million, including USD 41 million in exports.
Given the high share of perishable fresh fruit shipments, timely customs clearance is critical to maintaining product quality. Therefore, authorities have arranged separate lanes for fresh fruit to ensure rapid inspection and clearance.
Enterprises and Drivers Appreciate Efficient Procedures
Smooth operations at the border gates have been well received by exporters and drivers alike.
Mr. Vo Van Nhan, a driver from Long An Province, shared:
“I regularly transport agricultural goods to Tan Thanh border gate. The traffic here is smooth, and the border guards and customs officers are always present to guide and regulate vehicles efficiently.”
Ms. Ly Thu Hoai, a representative of a private import–export enterprise, added:
“Customs and border guard officers are very supportive, helping us complete declarations accurately and quickly. Any issue is resolved promptly with their cooperation.”
Digital Customs System Enhances Efficiency
According to Mr. Trieu Van Hanh, Deputy Head of Tan Thanh Customs, the department has effectively operated the VNACCS/VCIS electronic customs system and other digital platforms of the Vietnam Customs Department.
Businesses are encouraged to submit cargo information online through the province’s digital border gate platformbefore arrival, significantly reducing clearance time.
Huu Nghi International Border Gate: Surge in Passenger Travel
Since the start of 2025, especially during the Lunar New Year (Tet) period, cross-border passenger flows through Huu Nghi International Border Gate have surged, with peak days reaching 8,000 travelers.
Statistics from the Huu Nghi Border Guard Station show that from early February, officers have processed over 68,000 passport and travel permit entries/exits, mainly for holiday travel, cultural exchanges, and family visits between Vietnam and China.
Border Forces Ensure Safety and Order
To handle the high traffic volume, the border guard unit has increased staffing at key checkpoints, using electronic management systems and experienced officers to guide passengers efficiently and maintain strict security.
Mr. Zhou Bin, a frequent traveler from Zhejiang, China, shared:
“I often cross the Huu Nghi gate for work. The officers here are professional and helpful, making the process quick and convenient.”
At the gates, passengers queue orderly under clear guidance, ensuring smooth flow even during busy periods.
Proactive Measures for the Coming Months
With cross-border movement of goods and people expected to rise, Lang Son authorities continue to strengthen coordination, ensure border security, and maintain smooth customs clearance—creating favorable conditions for trade and tourism between Vietnam and China.
