Over 30 Vietnamese Enterprises Participate in the Algiers International Fair 2025

The 56th Algiers International Fair (FIA 56), organized by Algeria Exhibitions, officially opened on June 23, 2025, with the presence of Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, senior government officials, and the Minister of Commerce and Investment Promotion of the Sultanate of Oman, this year’s guest of honor.

As in previous years, Vietnam took part with a national pavilion, marking its continued commitment to strengthening trade ties and promoting Vietnamese goods in the African market.

A Major Trade Event in North Africa

Held from June 23–28, 2025, at the Pins Maritimes Exhibition Center in Algiers, the FIA is Algeria’s largest multi-sector trade fair, covering 25,000 square meters and featuring 638 exhibitors, half of which are international companies representing over 20 countries.

With the theme “For Joint and Sustainable Cooperation,” FIA 2025 was expected to attract around 500,000 visitors, including 450,000 business representatives and professionals from various sectors.

Key industries on display included agriculture, food processing, chemicals, petrochemicals, electronics, construction, mechanical engineering, and public services, showcasing the diversity of Algeria’s growing industrial landscape.

Vietnam’s National Pavilion at FIA 56

On June 24, 2025, the Embassy and Trade Office of Vietnam in Algeria inaugurated Vietnam’s national pavilion at the fair.

This year, Vietnam’s pavilion highlighted catalogues and sample products from more than 30 Vietnamese enterprisesacross multiple sectors, including:

  • Agriculture & aquaculture: coffee, pepper, cashew nuts, coconut, pangasius fish

  • Food & beverages

  • Textiles & footwear

  • Wood & furniture

  • Plastics & construction materials

  • Industrial equipment & machinery

In addition, several Vietnamese businesses presented traditional handicrafts, attracting strong interest from local and regional visitors.

Vietnam’s consistent participation in FIA over the past two decades (except during the 2020–2021 pandemic) demonstrates a strategic, long-term vision to expand its footprint in Africa—a market rich in potential yet full of challenges.

Growing Trade Relations Between Vietnam and Algeria

Vietnam’s participation in FIA not only strengthens its presence in Algeria but also opens doors to broader African markets.

According to data from the General Department of Vietnam Customs, bilateral trade between Vietnam and Algeria reached USD 285 million in the first five months of 2025, nearly tripling year-on-year.

Vietnam’s key exports include:

  • Green coffee beans

  • Black pepper

  • Cashew nuts

  • Desiccated coconut

  • Pangasius (basa fish)

  • Chemicals

Meanwhile, Vietnam’s imports from Algeria mainly consist of gelatin powder, dates, chicken feet, and pharmaceuticals.

Strong Interest in Vietnamese Products

The Vietnamese pavilion attracted hundreds of visitors on the opening day alone, including many importers and distributors seeking partnerships in agro-fisheries, beverages, plastics, and wooden products.

Vietnam’s handicraft displays, in particular, drew considerable attention for their authentic design and cultural value, enhancing the image of Vietnamese craftsmanship in North African markets.

Through its active participation in FIA 2025, Vietnam reaffirmed its commitment to expanding trade cooperation with Algeria and the African continent, promoting the image of a dynamic, export-oriented economy ready to engage with new global opportunities.
