The Vietnam Trade Office in Pakistan has released the Pakistan Market Bulletin for February 2025 to provide information and insights for Vietnamese enterprises and readers interested in the market.
Agricultural Production Overview
Pakistan’s wheat production is currently facing sustainability challenges in meeting the country’s growing food demand. The main reasons for the decline in wheat output in recent years include:
-
Lack of certified and improved wheat seed varieties.
-
Imbalanced use of fertilizers, particularly phosphate fertilizers due to high prices.
-
The spread of wheat rust disease.
Effective and timely management measures for these issues are essential to ensure sustainable production in the coming years.
Meanwhile, cotton output in both Punjab and Sindh provinces has fallen sharply compared to last year. According to the Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) report on December 31, 2024, the total cotton arrivals at ginning factories reached 5.45 million bales, down 33.3% from 8.17 million bales in the previous year. Specifically, cotton arrivals declined 34.8% in Punjab and 31.7% in Sindh.
Potato and sugarcane harvests are ongoing across the country. Rice production is expected to increase this year due to an expansion in cultivation areas.
