3. Agriculture Sector: Mechanization and Productivity Gains

Agricultural productivity in Pakistan is expected to improve further due to government initiatives and increased investment in farm mechanization.

For the 2024–2025 winter (Rabi) crop season, wheat has been cultivated over 22.07 million acres, with an expected output of 27.9 million tons.

Government programs have been instrumental in:

  • Providing improved seed varieties,

  • Expanding agricultural credit,

  • Supporting access to farm machinery and fertilizers.

Between July–November FY2025, agricultural credit disbursement rose to PKR 925.7 billion, up 8.5% from PKR 853 billion during the same period last year, toward an annual target of PKR 2.57 trillion.

Meanwhile, imports of agricultural machinery and equipment surged by 42.5%, reaching USD 69.2 million between July–January FY2025, indicating Pakistan’s strong push for farm mechanization.

4. Fertilizer Consumption During Rabi 2024–2025

Fertilizer usage in Pakistan has also seen substantial growth:

  • Urea consumption: 2.449 million tons (+6% YoY)

  • DAP consumption: 758,000 tons (+17.7% YoY)

This increase reflects favorable agricultural conditions and higher government support for input supply chains.
