Within the framework of the 36th Biofach 2025 International Organic Food Fair in Nürnberg, Germany — the world’s leading trade fair for organic food — the Vietnam Trade Office in Germany, in cooperation with the Vietnam Organic Agriculture Association (VOAA), organized a B2B business-matching and networking program for Vietnamese organic agricultural exporters with German and European companies on February 11, 2025.

The event gathered senior representatives from both sides:
-
From Vietnam: the leadership of the Vietnam Organic Agriculture Association, the Vietnam Trade Counselor in Germany, and 15 Vietnamese exporting enterprises.
-
From Germany: the leadership of Naturland – the German Organic Farming Association, its Vietnam representative office, and several German and European food importers such as Premium Food and Tran Soan GmbH.
In her welcoming remarks, Mrs. Dang Thi Bich Huong, Vice President of VOAA, noted that this marks the 8th consecutive year Vietnam has participated in Biofach. This year’s Vietnamese pavilion features a more diversified product lineup, including:
-
Traditional exports: tea (Bac Ha Co.), coffee (FNB Vietnam, Godere Vietnam), spices, cinnamon, star anise, pepper (Manh Cuong Group, Hanfimex Group, Visimex Saigon), cashew nuts (Long Son), and coconut nectar products (Sokfarm).
-
New organic product lines: natural cosmetic products like organic shampoo and body wash (ONA Global).
Many of these products have obtained international certifications, such as JAS, Control Union Certifications, BioTrade, USDA Organic, For Life, and GlobalGAP.
German Perspective: Opportunities for Collaboration
Representing Naturland, Mr. Marco Schlüter, Head of Strategy and International Cooperation, shared insights about the German organic market — the second largest organic market in the world. Naturland currently operates in over 60 countries, with active engagement in Southeast Asia, particularly Vietnam and the Philippines.
Over the past four years, Naturland has implemented a BMZ-funded cooperation project (German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development) supporting VOAA in strategy development and expanding its member services.
Mr. Schlüter expressed his delight in strengthening ties with VOAA and supporting Vietnamese companies at Biofach, emphasizing that beyond promoting organic trade, the broader goal is to protect the environment and restore global ecosystems.
Vietnam–Germany Trade Outlook
Speaking about trade relations, especially in organic agriculture, Ms. Dang Thi Thanh Phuong, Vietnam’s Trade Counselor in Germany, noted that bilateral trade between Vietnam and Germany has continued to grow steadily in recent years.
-
In 2024, Vietnam–Germany trade reached USD 11.7 billion, with Vietnam’s exports accounting for USD 7.43 billion.
-
Vietnam remains Germany’s largest trading partner in ASEAN, with agricultural exports contributing over 12%of Vietnam’s exports to Germany.
-
However, organic products still represent a small share of that volume.
As Vietnam expands its organic farming areas and certified production, and Germany remains a global leader in organic production and consumption, this creates strong potential for deeper cooperation.
“The Vietnam Trade Office hopes that businesses from both countries will strengthen partnerships and explore new cooperation opportunities in the organic sector,” said Counselor Phuong.
Vibrant B2B Networking and Related Trade Events
The B2B networking session saw dynamic participation from both Vietnamese and German enterprises, as well as European buyers attending Biofach.
Biofach 2025, themed “Paving the Path for a Sustainable Future”, runs from February 11–14, 2025 in Nürnberg, Germany. The fair serves not only as a premier exhibition but also as a global forum for knowledge exchange, innovation, and sustainable development in the organic sector.
