Promoting Vietnam’s Image and Strengthening Vietnam–U.S. Business Connections in Trade and Investment Promotion Activities in 2025

As part of the Spring 2025 Trade and Investment Promotion Program in the Southern United States, the Consulate General of Vietnam in Houston co-hosted an event with the San Antonio Bar Association on January 24, 2025, to promote Vietnam’s national image, business potential, and new opportunities for U.S. enterprises interested in Vietnam’s business, trade, and investment environment.

“Doing Business with Vietnam 2025” – Strengthening Bilateral Partnership

With the theme “Doing Business with Vietnam 2025,”
Mr. Hoàng Thùy Dương, Consul General of Vietnam in Houston, delivered an overview presentation on:

  • Vietnam’s economic and social development achievements,

  • Its investment potential and trade performance, and

  • Key milestones in Vietnam–U.S. diplomatic and commercial relations over recent years.

He also emphasized the significance of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and the United States, which marks a new era of cooperation in trade, investment, and innovation.

Expanding Business and Trade Cooperation

At the event, the Vietnam Trade Office in Houston provided further insights on:

  • Major Vietnamese export–import enterprises,

  • Economic cooperation achievements between Vietnamese businesses in Texas and U.S. partners, and

  • Measures to enhance B2B connectivity, investment promotion, and bilateral trade facilitation.

The meeting gathered a wide range of participants, including:

  • Officials from San Antonio’s Economic Development Department,

  • Representatives from the Council on International Relations,

  • Members of business chambers and trade associations,

  • Scholars from the University of Texas at San Antonio,

  • Local business leaders and consultants, and

  • Judge Peter Sakai of Bexar County.

Interest from U.S. Enterprises and Experts

U.S. businesses and consultants from San Antonio expressed strong interest in exploring Vietnam’s market potentialand B2B opportunities in sectors such as:

  • Investment,

  • Aviation,

  • Mechatronics and high technology, and

  • Food import–export.

These discussions align with new economic and trade policies under the Trump 2.0 Administration, aimed at boosting trade and investment ties between San Antonio and Asian markets.

Deepening Economic Dialogue and Future Plans

During the Q&A session, Consul General Hoàng Thùy Dương and Mr. Nguyễn Mạnh Quyền, Head of the Trade Office in Houston, shared updates on:

  • Vietnam’s trade and investment promotion programs in 2025,

  • Market entry strategies for U.S. companies,

  • Success stories of Vietnamese firms expanding in the U.S. market, and

  • Plans to enhance bilateral cooperation through events and trade missions.

Attendees also received a comprehensive set of economic, trade, and investment documents provided by the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (VIETRADE) and the Foreign Investment Agency (FIA) under Vietnam’s Ministry of Planning and Investment.

Strengthening Vietnam’s Global Business Image

This event marked an important step in:

  • Promoting Vietnam’s image as a dynamic and reliable trade partner,

  • Highlighting Vietnam’s key export industries, and

  • Fostering business partnerships between enterprises from both countries.

It also demonstrated Vietnam’s continued efforts to enhance its presence in the U.S. market, particularly in the Southern states, at the start of 2025.
