Thailand Considers Expanding Production of Eco-Friendly Tyres

The Rubber Authority of Thailand (RAOT) is considering expanding its tyre production capacity and introducing new product lines after the first batch of “Greenergy” eco-friendly tyres sold out completely.

According to Perk Lertwangpong, Chairman of the RAOT Board, both public agencies and private companies ordered 20,000 Greenergy tyres in May — equivalent to the agency’s entire production capacity at the time.

“Our green-energy tyres use natural rubber sourced from domestic plantations and meet international manufacturing standards,” Perk said.
“Each tyre complies with the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), ensuring full traceability to guarantee that no deforestation or forest degradation occurs in the production process.”

Commitment to Sustainable Rubber and Traceable Supply Chains

The RAOT carefully selects natural rubber from qualified plantations, ensuring that production sites do not encroach on forest land or disrupt water resources.
This initiative aims to promote sustainable rubber cultivation among Thai farmers and combat deforestation.

The first batch of Greenergy tyres was designed for pickup trucks and light commercial vehicles, but RAOT plans to expand the lineup to include eight additional categories, such as:

  • Heavy trucks

  • Buses

  • Agricultural vehicles

  • Off-road vehicles

  • Motorcycles

Given strong market demand, RAOT is also considering increasing production volumes for upcoming batches.

Performance, Durability, and Environmental Standards

Beyond being environmentally friendly, Greenergy Tyres offer high performance and superior traction, ensuring smoother rides.
All tyres have passed strict quality tests, guaranteeing a lifespan exceeding 50,000 km, Perk confirmed.

He added that upcoming batches will aim to meet Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Good Agricultural Practice (GAP) standards — helping make Greenergy tyres more affordable than imported alternatives while ensuring sustainability compliance.

Government Support and Market Stabilization

The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives is reportedly considering a proposal to use Greenergy tyres for government vehicles, which are typically replaced every 2–3 years due to continuous operation.
If approved, this policy would secure a stable domestic market for Thai rubber farmers and help stabilize local rubber prices.

Global Synthetic Polymer Latex Market Forecast to Grow 5.5% by 2032

According to U.S.-based research firm Report Ocean, the global synthetic polymer latex market was valued at approximately USD 40.6 billion in 2023 and is expected to grow by over 5.5% annually from 2024 to 2032.

Synthetic polymer latex — composed of polymer particles dispersed in water — is produced through emulsion polymerization of monomers such as styrene, butadiene, acrylic acid, vinyl acetate, or ethylene.
These polymers are vital across multiple industries due to their durability, flexibility, and adhesive strength.

Key Market Drivers and Challenges

  • Growth Drivers: Rising demand from the paints and coatings industry for sustainable, low-VOC materials with superior performance and adhesion.

  • Challenges: Volatile raw material prices that affect cost structures and profitability.

  • Opportunities: Expanding use in the electronics industry, where excellent adhesion, insulation, and moisture resistance make polymer latex ideal for coatings, adhesives, and encapsulants in miniaturized and complex devices.

As electronics continue to evolve, advanced materials like synthetic polymer latex will play an increasingly important role in sustainable and high-performance manufacturing.
