Thousands of Cargo Vehicles Cleared at Lao Cai and Lang Son Border Gates During the Holiday

During the five-day national holiday from April 30 to May 4, 2025, thousands of cargo trucks passing through the Lao Cai and Lang Son border gates were successfully cleared, ensuring smooth and uninterrupted import-export activities.

Lao Cai: Over 1,600 Vehicles Processed at Kim Thanh Border Gate

According to authorities at the Kim Thanh International Road Border Gate No. II (Kim Thanh Border Gate), a total of 1,625 cargo vehicles were processed for customs clearance during the holiday.

Among them, 1,084 vehicles carried imported goods, while 541 vehicles carried exports — averaging 325 vehicles per day.

Major import-export commodities included agricultural products, fresh fruits, machinery, chemicals, fertilizers, and plywood.

The total import-export turnover reached over USD 12.7 million during the five-day period.

Despite the holiday, customs and related agencies maintained full staffing levels to ensure smooth operations. Thanks to this proactive approach, all export-import procedures were handled promptly and efficiently, allowing goods to move quickly, safely, and without delays.

Since the beginning of 2025, nearly 500 enterprises have engaged in trade activities through the Kim Thanh Border Gate.

Lang Son: Over 6,500 Trucks Cleared During the Holiday

In Lang Son Province, official statistics show that during the same five-day holiday, more than 6,500 cargo trucks were cleared through the province’s border gates — an increase of over 1,250 vehicles compared to the same period last year.

Of this number, 1,639 vehicles carried fresh fruits and other agricultural products for export.

According to the Dong Dang–Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone Management Board, the daily average during the holiday was more than 1,310 vehicles processed per day across all checkpoints.

The main gates handling export-import activities included the Huu Nghi International Border Gate, Chi Ma Border Gate, and the Tan Thanh specialized goods transport route (between markers 1088/2–1089).

Specifically, customs forces at the Huu Nghi International Border Gate processed over 3,500 vehicles, while more than 2,200 trucks were cleared through the Tan Thanh specialized route.

Even during the holiday, Lang Son’s customs and inspection agencies worked continuously to assist enterprises, ensuring that border trade remained stable and efficient. No congestion or backlog of cargo vehicles was reported at any checkpoint.

Quang Ninh: Border Trade Maintained at Key Routes

In Quang Ninh Province, between May 1 and May 5, 2025, the Bac Luan II Bridge checkpoint (Mong Cai International Border Gate) operated under a pre-scheduled clearance system for import-export cargo.

Meanwhile, Bac Luan II’s passenger entry-exit lane and other crossings — including Bac Luan I Bridge and the Km3+4 Hai Yen Pontoon Bridge (Dongxing Market route) — continued normal operations.

At Hoanh Mo Border Gate (Binh Lieu District) and Bac Phong Sinh Border Gate (Hai Ha District), clearance activities paused during the holiday and resumed on May 6, 2025.

Ensuring Trade Flow During National Holidays

The continued clearance of thousands of vehicles through Lao Cai, Lang Son, and Quang Ninh highlights the commitment of Vietnam’s border management agencies to supporting trade and logistics, even during extended national holidays.

Their proactive coordination ensured that cross-border trade remained uninterrupted, contributing to export growth and supply chain stability for Vietnamese businesses.
