Tien Giang province officially exported its first batch of green-skinned mangoes on March 19, 2025, marking an important milestone for Vietnam’s fruit industry. The shipment included 1 ton of mangoes bound for the United Statesand 6 tons headed for Australia.
The export ceremony took place in An Huu commune, Cai Be district (Tien Giang province) and was jointly organized by the Tien Giang Provincial People’s Committee, Vina T&T Trading Service Import-Export Co., Ltd, and Thanh Binh Trading Import-Export Co., Ltd.
A New Milestone for Vietnamese Mango Exports
Speaking at the ceremony, Pham Van Trong, Vice Chairman of the Tien Giang People’s Committee, emphasized that this export event marks a major opportunity for Tien Giang’s agricultural sector to access global markets and affirm its international reputation.
Tien Giang currently has over 88,000 hectares of fruit trees, yielding more than 1.8 million tons per year, accounting for nearly 40% of the province’s agricultural land. Among them, 2,000 hectares are dedicated to mango cultivation, with an annual output of over 50,000 tons. The province exports to multiple high-demand markets such as China, South Korea, Japan, the United States, New Zealand, and the European Union.
Famous local fruit brands include Hoa Loc Cat mango, green-skinned mango, Lo Ren star apple, Ngu Hiep durian, Cho Gao dragon fruit, and Tan Lap pineapple.
Strict Quality Control and Farmer Collaboration
According to Nguyen Dinh Muoi, Deputy General Director of Vina T&T Group, exporting this first batch of mangoes to the U.S. serves as a “launchpad” for other Vietnamese agricultural products entering high-standard markets.
To meet export requirements, Vina T&T has deployed technical teams to support farmers — guiding fruit bagging practices, establishing planting area codes, and building qualified packing facilities. The company has also strengthened ties with cooperatives and farmer groups to ensure compliance with quality standards for export to demanding markets like the United States.
Mr. Muoi called on farmers to maintain long-term cooperation and uphold the integrity of supply chains, avoiding short-term disruptions caused by local traders’ fluctuating offers.
Expanding Market Opportunities
This successful shipment follows similar achievements in Can Tho and An Giang provinces in 2024, which also exported green-skinned mangoes to the U.S. and Australia for the first time.
Tien Giang’s latest export highlights the growing competitiveness and quality of Vietnamese mangoes in global markets, paving the way for broader fruit exports from the Mekong Delta to high-value destinations.
