Two Suspects Steal 600 Kg of Fresh Coffee Cherries in Đắk Lắk

Police in Buôn Ma Thuột City, Đắk Lắk Province, are investigating the theft of more than 600 kilograms of freshly picked coffee cherries from a household in Cư Êbur Commune.

On the afternoon of October 31, Nguyễn Hữu Chí, chairman of the Cư Êbur Commune People’s Committee, confirmed to VietNamNet that a large coffee theft had recently occurred and that city police are looking into the case.

According to initial reports, at about 4 a.m. the same day, Trần Văn Luyến (55), a resident of Hamlet 3 in Cư Êbur, discovered that the B40 wire fence around his yard had been cut and several sacks of coffee were missing.

Checking his home security cameras, Luyến saw two individuals on a motorbike cutting through the fence and sneaking into the yard to steal coffee during the night.

“The camera shows the two suspects going back and forth repeatedly to carry the coffee away,” Luyến said.

He added that roughly 600 kilograms of fresh coffee cherries—recently purchased from local farmers for drying and processing into raw coffee beans—were stolen. The family has reported the incident to the police.
