According to the Vietnam Rubber Industry Journal (CSVN), Deputy Prime Minister Lê Văn Thành has recently approved a national plan with the goal of completing the construction of an agricultural market data and forecasting system by 2025.
The project sets a clear objective: by 2025, Vietnam will establish a centralized data warehouse dedicated to the agricultural sector, designed to analyze and forecast agricultural market trends. It also aims to complete software tools for collecting, analyzing, and forecasting data on the country’s key agricultural commodities and high-potential products.
A national information network will be established to connect and share market data on a regular basis, ensuring that 100% of staff involved are trained and qualified to operate the system effectively.
Building a Centralized Agricultural Data Warehouse
The project’s core mission is to develop and operate a centralized data warehouse for the agricultural sector. This includes:
-
Standardizing data sources and designing an integrated data architecture for agricultural market information.
-
Ensuring interoperability and connectivity to improve efficiency in information collection, analysis, and forecasting.
-
Integrating the market information system within the broader digital transformation framework of Vietnam’s agriculture sector, aligned with the E-Government Architecture Framework.
Application of Modern Technologies
The plan emphasizes the application of advanced technologies—including remote sensing, artificial intelligence (AI), and big data analytics—to enhance data collection, market analysis, and forecasting.
Key initiatives include:
-
Developing software platforms for collecting and managing data on agricultural production, processing, and consumption—covering acreage, yield, prices, input materials, and consumption structures.
-
Using remote sensing technology to monitor cultivation and forestry areas and assess productivity.
-
Applying digital and AI technologies to predict market fluctuations, supply and demand dynamics, and price changes for key agricultural materials and products.
Ensuring Data Security and System Integration
The plan also outlines measures to ensure data security, system backup, and recovery mechanisms, as well as compliance with Vietnam’s cybersecurity and information safety laws.
Once completed, this data ecosystem will provide timely, accurate, and unified information for state management agencies, enterprises, cooperatives, and individuals, supporting better policy-making and market forecasting in the agricultural sector.
