According to statistics from the Taiwan Trade Administration (TITA), Taiwan imported ceramic tiles from 27 global partners in 2024, three fewer than in 2023.
The total import value of ceramic tiles (HS code 6907; English description: Ceramic flags and paving, hearth or wall tiles; ceramic mosaic cubes and the like, whether or not on a backing; finishing ceramics) reached USD 148.017 million, representing a 3.13% increase compared to 2023.
Vietnam Remains Taiwan’s Top Ceramic Tile Supplier
Vietnam continued to hold its position as Taiwan’s largest supplier of ceramic tiles in 2024, with a total export value of USD 40.17 million — almost unchanged from 2023 (down just 0.97%). Vietnam accounted for 27.14% of Taiwan’s total ceramic tile import market share.
This is considered a positive outcome given that Vietnam’s ceramic tile exports to Taiwan have been subject to anti-dumping duties ranging from 0% to 19.41% since October 4, 2021, and the measure will remain effective until October 3, 2026.
Other Major Suppliers to Taiwan
-
Italy, unaffected by Taiwan’s anti-dumping duties, maintained its second position with an export value of USD 32.73 million, down 0.56% from 2023, accounting for 22.11% of the market share.
-
India, benefiting from large-scale production and competitive pricing, ranked third with USD 28.58 million, down 2.07%, representing 19.31% of the total.
-
Spain retained its fourth position, recording an increase of 10.17% with USD 25.36 million, making up 17.14%of Taiwan’s imports — a slight gain of 1.01% compared to 2023.
-
Malaysia and Indonesia followed, holding 4.36% and 2.31% of the market share, respectively.
The Top 10 suppliers also included Japan, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Thailand, though their individual market shares were relatively small.
Market Structure and Outlook
Overall, the market share structure of Taiwan’s ceramic tile imports in 2024 remained largely unchanged from 2023. Countries subject to Taiwan’s anti-dumping duties — Vietnam, India, Malaysia, and Indonesia — showed slight declines, but the overall impact was limited.
However, new Vietnamese exporters aiming to enter the Taiwanese market in 2024 faced significant challenges due to the general 19.41% duty rate applied to those without individual tariff exemptions.
Despite these difficulties, Vietnam’s sustained market leadership demonstrates its strong competitiveness in quality, price, and reliability — reaffirming its key role in Taiwan’s ceramic tile supply chain.
