Vietnam–Brazil Trade Forum: Strengthening Bilateral Ties
On April 9, 2025, the Vietnam–Brazil Trade Cooperation Seminar was also organized by the Vietnam Trade Office in Brazil, attracting strong interest from Brazilian companies eager to enhance trade relations with Vietnam.
Opening the seminar, Ambassador Bui Van Nghi highlighted that since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1989, the partnership between the two countries has grown robustly across multiple sectors.
The relationship reached a new milestone on November 17, 2024, when both nations officially upgraded to a Strategic Partnership. Vietnam became Brazil’s first strategic partner in Southeast Asia, while Brazil is the first Latin American country to hold this status with Vietnam.
During President Lula da Silva’s state visit to Vietnam (March 27–29, 2025), the two sides signed the 2025–2030 Action Program to strengthen cooperation in key fields. The trade seminar thus marked a pivotal step in expanding economic, trade, and investment ties between the two nations.
Business Leaders Emphasize Cooperation Opportunities
In the discussion session on trade and investment opportunities,
Mr. Victor Key, President of the Vietnam–Brazil (LATAM) Chamber of Commerce and Industry, emphasized that Vietnam is one of Brazil’s most important trading partners in Asia.
He called for closer business collaboration to reach USD 10 billion in bilateral trade within the next two years.
Mr. Bruno Romano, Commercial Director of GreenLife Solution, shared that after working with several Vietnamese partners, he sees Vietnam as a potential market for Brazilian exports such as beef, poultry, and cereals, while also recognizing Vietnam’s role as a key supplier of frozen fruits, plastic pellets, and metal materials for Brazil’s industries.
However, he noted existing challenges, including long distances, language and cultural differences, and called for governmental support in trade promotion and brand visibility at international exhibitions.
GreenLife Solution and other companies from the group are planning to join a Brazilian business delegation to Vietnam in September 2025 to attend the International Sourcing Expo 2025 and explore direct trade partnerships.
Vietnamese Enterprises Eye Expansion into Latin America
Representatives of Vifon Group and Tan Nhat Huong Company reaffirmed their commitment to expanding in South America, especially Brazil, which boasts high consumer purchasing power, favorable market access, and ample growth potential for processed food and bakery ingredients.
Shared Vision for Future Cooperation
Ms. Pham Hong Trang, Chief Representative of the Vietnam Trade Office in Brazil (also covering Peru, Bolivia, Suriname, and Guyana), emphasized that Vietnam and Brazil share many economic complementarities.
-
Brazil: Latin America’s largest economy, strong in agriculture, energy, and manufacturing.
-
Vietnam: One of Asia’s most dynamic manufacturing and export hubs, leading in textiles, electronics, processed foods, and logistics.
Given the evolving global trade environment, Brazil represents a promising alternative market for Vietnamese exporters in sectors such as seafood, textiles, footwear, processed foods, machinery, and consumer goods.
