Vietnam’s Coffee Exports to Germany Surge Impressively in the First Half of 2025

According to data from the General Department of Vietnam Customs, by the end of June 2025, bilateral trade between Vietnam and Germany reached approximately USD 6.65 billion, up 18.8% compared to the same period in 2024.
Vietnam’s exports to Germany totaled over USD 4.75 billion, while imports stood at USD 1.9 billion, increasing by 24%and 7.4% year-on-year, respectively.

Coffee Exports: The Key Driver of Growth

A major contributor to Vietnam’s export growth to Germany was coffee, with export turnover exceeding USD 824.85 million, a remarkable 113% increase compared to the first half of 2024. Coffee accounted for approximately 17.4% of Vietnam’s total exports to Germany.

Vietnam’s coffee exports achieved a record-high performance as average export prices reached over USD 5,700 per ton, up more than 59% year-on-year.
Germany continues to be Vietnam’s largest coffee importer, accounting for 16.3% of total coffee exports, followed by Italy (7.9%) and Spain (7.4%).
Vietnam is currently the second-largest coffee supplier to Germany, just behind Brazil.

Other Export Highlights

Apart from coffee, several other export categories also posted strong growth:

  • Computers, electronics, and components: USD 551.85 million (+30%)

  • Seafood: USD 100.5 million (+6%)

  • Cashew nuts: USD 79.6 million (+25%)

  • Pepper: USD 75.44 million (+57%)

  • Fruits and vegetables: USD 39.79 million (+24%)

  • Machinery and spare parts: USD 701.62 million (+19%)

  • Textiles and garments: USD 446.11 million (+22%)

  • Footwear: USD 379.55 million (+2%)

Import Growth from Germany

On the import side, Vietnam’s imports from Germany rose 7.4%, focusing on:

  • Machinery and spare parts: USD 688.04 million (+12%)

  • Pharmaceuticals: USD 225.5 million (+38%)

  • Computers, electronic products, and components: USD 91.23 million (+25%)

Strengthening Vietnam–Germany Trade Relations

With this trade performance, Germany remains Vietnam’s second-largest trading partner within the EU, and ranks 12th among Vietnam’s top global trading partners.
The strong momentum in Vietnam–Germany trade reflects the growing demand for high-quality Vietnamese agricultural and industrial products, especially coffee — a product that continues to strengthen Vietnam’s position in the global export market.
