Vietnam’s Exports to Bangladesh Continue to Grow in 2024

According to data from the General Department of Vietnam Customs, Vietnam’s export turnover to Bangladeshreached USD 76.9 million in December 2024, up 1.01% from the previous month. For the entire year 2024, total exports amounted to USD 979.08 million, marking a 5.6% increase compared with 2023.


Textile and Fiber Exports Lead Growth

Among export categories, textiles and garments ranked first, bringing in USD 194.8 million, a 25.1% increase, and accounting for 19.9% of total exports.
Following closely was the fiber and yarn group, with exports worth USD 188.6 million, up 40.6%, representing 19.2% of total export value.


Strong Performance Across Multiple Product Categories

Several product categories recorded significant year-on-year growth in 2024:

  • Textile, leather, and footwear materials: +36.8%

  • Chemical products: +40.4%

  • Computers, electronics, and components: +103.2%

  • Animal feed and raw materials: +51.06%

  • Rubber: +70%

Overall, most Vietnamese export products to Bangladesh showed positive growth in 2024, reflecting the strengthening trade relationship between the two countries.


Bilateral Trade Expanding Steadily

According to Vietnam Customs, Vietnam–Bangladesh trade has quadrupled over the past decade, increasing from about USD 350 million in 2012 to nearly USD 1.059 billion in 2023.

Key export items include:

  • Clinker and cement

  • Fibers and yarns

  • Textiles and garments

  • Plastic resins

  • Textile and garment accessories

This upward trend demonstrates Vietnam’s growing role as a key trading partner of Bangladesh, supported by expanding export categories and improved trade facilitation between the two nations.
