Table of Contents
In the overall market context, Vietnam continues to be the largest exporter of pepper to Turkey, maintaining its dominant position in both volume and value.
During the first eight months of 2025, Vietnam exported 2.62 thousand tons of pepper to Turkey, with a total export value of USD 6.8 million.
This represented a slight increase of 0.9% in volume and a notable rise of 12.1% in value compared with the same period in 2024.
As a result, Vietnam’s share of Turkey’s total pepper import value reached 66.8%, reaffirming its role as the primary supplier in this market.
2. Brazil’s Exports Recover
Meanwhile, Brazil’s pepper exports to Turkey showed a positive recovery trend over the same period.
The country exported 827 tons worth over USD 2.4 million, marking an increase of 9.5% in quantity and 25.3% in value, thus accounting for 24.2% of Turkey’s total pepper import market share.
This growth was largely driven by record-high global pepper prices in 2025, which pushed up the import value even as trade volumes remained relatively stable.
3. Turkey’s Overall Pepper Imports
According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in the first seven months of 2025, Turkey imported approximately 3.7 thousand tons of black pepper (HS 090411000000 – Whole, unground black pepper), worth around USD 10.2 million.
Compared with the same period last year:
-
Import volume decreased by 10.2%,
-
Import value increased by 9.6%, reflecting higher unit prices due to limited global supply and increasing costs along the supply chain.
4. Market Insights
Despite fluctuations in global pepper output and prices, Vietnam continues to consolidate its leadership in Turkey’s pepper market.
This is supported by:
-
Stable supply capacity from key producing regions such as Đắk Lắk, Gia Lai, and Đắk Nông;
-
Improved quality standards that meet Turkey’s import requirements;
-
Strong trade networks between Vietnamese exporters and Turkish distributors.
With global pepper prices expected to remain high in the coming quarters, Vietnam’s export earnings from Turkey are projected to maintain solid growth through the end of 2025, though competition from Brazil and Indonesia is likely to intensify.
