Vietnam’s Rice Exports to Singapore Rise 28.45% in 2024

According to the Trade Office of the Embassy of Vietnam in Singapore, data from the Singapore Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) shows that in 2024, Singapore’s total rice import value from global markets reached over SGD 456.2 million, marking a 10.73% increase compared to 2023.

Import Volume and Market Structure

In terms of volume, Singapore imported approximately 589,675 tons of nine major rice categories (HS 10062010, 10062090, 10063030, 10063040, 10063091, 10063099, 10064090, 10063050, 10063070) — a 3.77% increase year-on-year.

By market share, white rice dominated imports, accounting for 33.57%, followed by parboiled rice (17.63%), Hom Mali white rice (17.16%), and milled or husked fragrant rice (14.97%). Other rice varieties made up the remaining segments.

Positive Growth Across Most Categories

Singapore’s rice import market in 2024 experienced solid growth in both value and volume. Seven of the nine main rice groups posted positive growth, with some seeing notable increases:

  • Glutinous rice: +185.82%

  • Milled or husked fragrant rice: +35.6%

  • Parboiled rice: +73.12%

However, the largest segment – white rice – declined by 16.5% in import volume.
