To enhance business efficiency and product competitiveness, the Vietnam Rubber Group (VRG) organized a conference on Mixture rubber production and latex content management on April 26, 2024. Speaking with Vietnam Rubber Magazine (CSVN), Mr. Trương Minh Trung – VRG Deputy General Director, discussed the Group’s orientations and strategies for this initiative.
Expanding the Production of VRG Mixture Rubber
According to Mr. Trung, rubber production and business are core pillars of VRG’s operations, involving 57 member companies producing and processing 25 product categories from both harvested and purchased raw materials.
To meet the rising global demand for Mixture rubber (SVR Mix) — particularly from China, India, and the Middle East — VRG has strategically diversified its product portfolio to include SVR 3L Mix and SVR 10 Mix. These products have been well received due to their high quality and competitive pricing, helping VRG enhance its export potential and production flexibility.
Under unified and decisive leadership, VRG has introduced four technical standards (TCCS) that provide the foundation for consistent quality and processing technology in Mixture rubber:
-
TCCS 116:2022 – Technical Quality Standards for Mixed Rubber
-
TCCS 117:2022 – Production Process for SVR 3L Mix
-
TCCS 119:2023 – Process for SVR 10 Mix
-
TCCS 120:2023 – Standard for Synthetic Rubber Blending and Quality Control
By the end of 2023, VRG’s total Mixture rubber production reached 7,251.58 tons, including 6,248.65 tons of SVR 10 Mix and 1,002.92 tons of SVR 3L Mix, generating VND 242.1 billion in revenue. Despite this success, production still fell short of market demand — especially from international buyers seeking stable, large-volume supply.
Among VRG’s member companies, Chư Mom Ray and Kon Tum Rubber Companies were recognized as leaders for their proactive innovation and effective production management.
For 2024, VRG has assigned production targets of 7,500 tons of SVR 3L Mix and 29,000 tons of SVR 10 Mix across its subsidiaries. Each company must evaluate its technical capacity, plan production schedules, and ensure compliance with Group standards to meet targets effectively.
Moving forward, VRG will:
-
Standardize and continuously improve Mixture rubber quality.
-
Invest in modern, synchronized equipment to optimize production efficiency.
-
Establish evaluation criteria for Mixture rubber quality and capacity.
-
Conduct regular inspections to maintain consistency and protect the VRG brand.
-
Strengthen customer satisfaction measurement systems and promptly update internal standards to align with market requirements.
-
Promote VRG’s Mixture rubber through trade fairs, media channels, and global exhibitions to reinforce brand visibility.
Enhancing Latex Content Management Across the Group
Mr. Trung emphasized that latex content management remains a top priority to ensure transparency and reliability across VRG’s operations.
In 2016, VRG issued TCCS 111:2016, which mainly addressed liquid latex (mủ nước), while other raw materials like cup lump and dry rubber were secondary sources. However, by 2021, the raw material structure had changed significantly, with dry rubber content reaching 47% and expected to exceed 50% by 2035.
To adapt to this shift, VRG introduced TCCS 111:2023, approved by Decision No. 228/QĐ-HĐQTCSVN (August 8, 2023), replacing the outdated 2016 standard. The new regulation unifies procedures for collection, storage, transport, and inspection of rubber materials and ensures accurate management of raw material input, processing stages, and dry rubber yield discrepancies.
Following that, Official Dispatch No. 2226/CSVN-CN (August 22, 2023) instructed all subsidiaries to implement TCCS 111:2023 fully. This updated framework enhances transparency, accountability, and legal consistency across all production phases, ensuring traceability and compliance.
VRG has also directed:
-
The Industrial Department to coordinate regular audits and assessments of compliance.
-
The design and development of a new “Rubber Sheet Pressing Machine” suitable for difficult regions, ensuring consistency in testing dry rubber content.
-
Member companies to appoint specialized quality control personnel, equip laboratories with standardized testing tools, and strengthen internal regulations to handle material discrepancies transparently.
The Southeast region was highlighted as a model area with many companies demonstrating exemplary latex management practices despite high production complexity.
Strategic Direction for Long-Term Sustainability
Deputy General Director Trương Minh Trung concluded:
“Developing Mixture rubber is a strategic breakthrough for VRG — helping overcome challenges, enhance profitability, and strengthen our leadership role in Vietnam’s rubber industry. Alongside this, strict latex content management ensures transparency, worker confidence, and customer trust, which are essential for sustainable business performance.”
“All member companies must focus on both product diversification and management improvements to maximize value, increase sales opportunities, and ensure VRG continues to lead Vietnam’s rubber sector toward sustainable development.”
