On November 21, the Wood Production Emulation Bloc under the Vietnam Rubber Group (VRG) held a conference to review its 2018 emulation and commendation activities, highlighting impressive achievements despite a year of many challenges.
Overcoming Difficulties in Production and Labor Competition
In 2018, VRG’s wood manufacturing companies faced numerous obstacles due to fierce competition within the sector. Although raw material supplies were not entirely lacking, they were unevenly distributed throughout the year, concentrated mainly during the rubber plantation clearance season. Rising prices of production materials also affected manufacturing costs.
Additionally, some units struggled with product consumption and labor competition from other enterprises operating in nearby industrial zones, making workforce retention increasingly difficult.
In response, company leaders implemented a range of proactive solutions, including:
-
Maintaining and expanding market share by producing market-demanded wood products;
-
Improving labor welfare and ensuring stable income for workers;
-
Practicing cost-saving measures in production and management;
-
Enhancing operational efficiency through innovation and collaboration.
Impressive Results: All Key Indicators Surpassed
Thanks to collective efforts, all companies in the bloc achieved or exceeded their business targets for 2018. By December 31, notable results included:
-
Total wood production: 1,240,390 m³ — 105% of the plan;
-
Revenue: VND 6,785 billion — 102% of the plan;
-
Profit-to-charter capital ratio: 106% of the plan;
-
Average employee income: 115% of the plan.
These figures reaffirmed the resilience and competitiveness of VRG’s wood industry sector, which continues to thrive even amid market volatility.
Active Participation in Social and Community Initiatives
In addition to business success, companies within the bloc actively engaged in social responsibility programs, contributing to local welfare and community development.
In 2018 alone, total spending on social and charitable activities reached VND 350 million. Units also participated in various cultural, artistic, and sports events organized by both VRG and local authorities, reinforcing solidarity and employee engagement.
